Prior to Latest COVID Variant, CA Attends Political Networking Events – Rare Opportunity to Touch Base with Political Leaders

Posted Date: 21-December-2021

Prior to the increase in restrictions that are accompanying the advent of the new Covid-19 variant, CA President Darren Praznik took advantage of two opportunities to spend some time with political leaders.

Earlier in December, Darren attended a Mississauga Board of Trade event with Ontario Energy Minister Todd Smith. Minister Smith was most helpful in directing our industry’s request for assistance with the GMP certificates for the export of cosmetics to China (without animal testing) within the Ontario government. This effort was required after Quebec issued certificates were accepted by Chinese authorities for Quebec manufacturing facilities and opened the door, and need, for a similar certificate for Ontario manufacturing sites.

In late November, Darren was a guest at the Churchill Society Annual Dinner in Toronto to honour former Prime Minister Brian Mulroney. In attendance were many current and former MP’s and cabinet Ministers including Opposition Leader Erin O’Toole, Defence Minister Anita Anand, and former Trudeau Treasury Board President Scott Brison. Never missing an opportunity to renew CA’s relationship with government officials, Darren used the opportunity to chat with many in attendance including Erin O’Toole (who is a former P & G corporate counsel).

With the increasing of public health restrictions in the face of a new and rapidly spreading variant, it looks as if it will again be some time before CA will be able to resume in-person meeting with MP’s and other officials.
