Of particular note, Beta Montemayor, CA’s Science, Regulation & Market Access Director, was part of an expert panel who introduced and discussed the New Cosmetics Industry Global Science Program (2022-2026). The new program includes 3 pillars:
- building animal free safety assessment capabilities;
- training & education to facilitate wide use of novel approaches for safety assessment of cosmetics ingredients and products to the end users; and
- promoting regulatory use.
The program covers both environmental and human safety assessment and will be truly international, globally owned and driven forward by companies.
Further advancing animal-free safety assessments via this global program aligns with CA’s work on animal testing ban legislation in Canada and can also assist in facilitating cosmetics exports to China!
